I breathed a huge sigh of relief the first time I walked into Koko. Koko has everything a good chinese bakery should have: the standard offering of hot and cold stuffed bakery buns, milk and bubble tea, shaved ice, big fancy cakes and little fancy cake slices, colorful dessert rolls with the cream in a swirl, loaves of bread with crunchy nai you or even taro inside, all the special cakes (mooncake, lao po bing), and soft Asian pop music playing constantly. The owner is an amazing woman: apparently she runs Koko as a side operation next to her jewelry business. She speaks fluent English and Spanish on top of her native Chinese. I want to be her someday.
This is my favorite seat in the place: the middle table (facing the door) by the windows and plants. Sorry that there are no bakery buns pictured here.
